Traffic Measures on Some Streets in Beirut

"One of the contracted companies will carry out removal of the old asphalt layer and subsequent tarring on several streets in Beirut, as follows:

First – Removal of the old asphalt layer and subsequent tarring:

1- On 1-9-2026, from 8:00 PM until 5:00 AM the following day.

Therefore, the entrance to the Bourj el-Barbar Bridge from Corniche al-Mazraa (Boulevard Saeb Salam) will be closed to traffic and redirected toward the Museum. Additionally, all intersections leading to the same lane on the bridge's reverse side will be closed.

On 13-9-2026, tarring works will be carried out, with the same traffic measures applied as during the removal of the old asphalt layer.

2- On 2-9-2026, from 8:00 PM until 5:00 AM the following day, traffic coming from the Museum toward Corniche al-Mazraa (Boulevard Saeb Salam), at the exit of the Barbar Tunnel, will be diverted by opening the central island and using the southern lane in both directions, heading toward Al-Nasser Mosque, ending at the intersection of Burj Abu Haidar – Raafaa, where traffic will return to its normal route.

On 19-9-2026, tarring works will be carried out, with the same traffic measures applied as during the removal of the old asphalt layer.

3- On 3-9-2026, from 8:00 PM until 5:00 AM the following day, traffic will be prohibited from the intersection of Burj Abu Haidar – Raafaa toward the Barbar, and the northern lane will be used in both directions, with traffic returning to its normal route toward the Barbar via the opening created in front of the Barbar Tunnel entrance.

On 20-9-2026, tarring works will be carried out, with the same traffic measures applied as during the removal of the old asphalt layer.

Second – Tarring works:

1- Starting at 7:00 AM on 5-9-2026 until completion, tarring works will be carried out on Pierre Gemayel Street, beginning from in front of Skin Pharmacy toward Boulevard Saeb Salam (Corniche al-Mazraa), extending to the exit of Muhammad al-Hout Street.

During execution, the same traffic measures applied during the paving work will be followed, redirecting traffic coming from Adlieh toward Boulevard Saeb Salam (Corniche al-Mazraa), opposite the direction of travel inside the Adlieh and Museum tunnels, continuing to the exit of Muhammad al-Hout Street, then turning right to return to the normal direction of travel.

2- Starting at 7:00 AM on 6-9-2026 until completion, tarring works will be carried out on Abdullah al-Yafi Street toward Adlieh.

During execution, the same traffic measures applied during the paving work will be followed, redirecting traffic starting from the central opening opposite the exit of Muhammad al-Hout Street, against the direction of travel toward the Museum and Adlieh tunnels, then turning right opposite the Hay al-Sriyan intersection toward Dakhoulia district.

3- On 12-9-2026, tarring works will be carried out on the stretch extending from Bourj el-Barbar Bridge toward Al-Helou Barracks in the Corniche al-Mazraa area.

During execution, the same traffic measures applied during the removal of the old asphalt layer will be followed, closing the lane on the Bourj el-Barbar Bridge toward Corniche al-Mazraa and redirecting traffic into the tunnel. Traffic coming from the Museum toward the Barbar will have all intersections leading to the back of the bridge closed and be redirected into the tunnel toward Corniche al-Mazraa.

Additionally, the entrance to the Bourj el-Barbar Bridge from Bashir al-Khoury – Al-Awali toward the Barbar will be closed, and traffic will be redirected into Omar Behey Tunnel.

Drivers are kindly advised to take note, comply with instructions from Internal Security Forces personnel and traffic signs placed at the site, to facilitate traffic flow and prevent congestion.
