Chants and cheers echoed throughout Roumieh Prison today, Wednesday, following the Lebanese Parliament's approval of the general amnesty law and exceptional reduction in the duration of certain penalties.
A video circulating from inside the prison shows inmates shouting takbirs and cheering upon hearing the news of the law's passage, amid an atmosphere of excitement in some prison sections.
This follows the Lebanese Parliament’s approval during its legislative session today of a proposed law aimed at granting a general amnesty and exceptionally reducing the duration of certain penalties, after debate and amendments.
