A video of Britney Spears’ March DUI arrest recently circulated widely, prompting the singer to respond to critics through a series of Instagram posts. Using the pseudonym Xila Maria River Red, Spears addressed those she called “mean girls” who were mocking her.

Spears Confronts Public Criticism After DUI Arrest

On March 4, Britney Spears was detained in California on suspicion of driving under the influence, after police reported she was operating her BMW erratically and at high speed, as reported by the BBC. The footage that emerged showed her struggling to complete a field sobriety test.

Authorities stated Spears admitted to consuming one mimosa and taking prescription medications, including Adderall, Lamictal, and Prozac. The video attracted significant public attention.

Following a guilty plea on May 4, Spears avoided jail time and was placed on informal probation for one year. On May 26, she shared her feelings about the intense scrutiny she has faced, writing on Instagram about the discomfort caused by excessive gossip and the media’s focus on her past. She expressed hope that people would respect her spiritual journey and cease sharing embarrassing moments from her history.

Two days later, Spears posted again with an edited childhood photo that appeared to show her raising her middle finger. She wrote, “If you’re one of those mean girls pointing and laughing and looking at your phone in the audience, just look up today….” This post was accompanied by a video of her dancing in a pink minidress.

A source speaking to Entertainment Tonight revealed that Spears, who has two sons named Sean Preston and Jayden James with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, felt “completely mortified” after the arrest footage was made public. The source added that Spears has found recovery challenging and is focusing on rebuilding her relationship with her sons while relying on her support network to maintain a positive outlook.
