The miniseries "The Five-Star Weekend," led by Jennifer Garner, debuts on Peacock with a story of grief and friendship set in Nantucket.

Launching today on Peacock, the miniseries "The Five-Star Weekend" features Jennifer Garner as the lead character, Hollis Shaw. Adapted from Elin Hilderbrand’s bestselling novel, the show includes an ensemble cast with D’Arcy Carden, Gemma Chan, Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny, Harlow Jane, and Timothy Olyphant.

Starting July 9, Peacock will stream the eight-episode series centered on Hollis Shaw, portrayed by Garner, who is coping with the death of her husband. To manage her grief, Shaw organizes a “five-star” weekend at her Nantucket home. The storyline also explores the strain in Shaw’s relationship with her daughter.
The narrative follows Shaw as she invites three friends from different phases of her life—childhood, twenties, and thirties—plus an unexpected fifth guest. According to Decider, viewers are anticipating Garner’s portrayal, expecting a blend of dramatic and comedic elements typical of her performances.
Peacock is also set to release an official companion podcast hosted by author Elin Hilderbrand, which will accompany the series throughout July.
The series has received positive reviews, with critics praising the scenic island settings and Garner’s nuanced performance balancing sorrow and poise. It has been recognized as a narrative focused on female friendship and personal recovery.
Filming took place primarily on location in Nantucket, Massachusetts, while interior scenes were shot on soundstages in Los Angeles, California. Minkie Spiro directed the series, which was written and produced by Bekah Brunstetter.
Key crew members include Tony Mirosevich as the main camera operator, Lyn Paolo as costume designer, and Siddhartha Khosla, who composed the music.
