A humorous gift featuring an exaggerated, muscular depiction of King Charles III elicited laughter from the monarch on the second day of his Bahamas tour. The king received the T-shirt, which portrayed him in a boxing stance, from a trainer and student at the Bahamas Boxing Academy. This interaction occurred during a visit focused on meeting young athletes and observing how the facility integrates sport with education for local children.

The Boxing-Inspired Design Revealed

Charles could not contain his amusement when presented with the black T-shirt at the academy located in the Yellow Elder district of New Providence. The garment displayed an illustration of the king wearing purple shorts, a vest, gloves, and a crown, while striking a boxing pose. This stylized artwork gave the monarch a notably muscular makeover, distinct from his usual public image.

The royal engagement was accompanied by Bahamas Prime Minister Philip Davis and Sports Minister Mario Bowleg. During the session, the group met with young boxers and their coaches, including 12-year-old Sanai Miller and Jermaine Gibson, who leads the All Out Boxing Club. It was this pair who wore matching shirts bearing the same playful design.

Gift Exchange and Reactions

Upon noticing the identical apparel worn by Gibson and Miller, Charles pointed at the graphic and laughed. Gibson clarified that he had arranged a specific shirt for the king, stating, “We made one for you; I had it made last night.” The monarch accepted the present, continuing to laugh, and remarked, “How generous.” Following the exchange, Gibson recounted the king’s positive response, noting, “We gave him one of his own; he said it was really good.”

The Bahamas Boxing Academy, which opened in April 2026 within the Queen Elizabeth sporting complex on New Providence, served as the venue for these interactions. The institution aims to support young Bahamians by developing their skills through boxing, mentoring, and educational programs. By combining athletic training with guidance, the facility seeks to help participants build confidence and explore opportunities beyond the ring.
