Oscar Winners Reveal Shocking Cast for Unconventional Flat-Earth Movie Journey
Jack O’Connell and Odessa A’zion will star in a new film directed by Oscar winners Ross White and Tom Berkeley, following two loners on a quest to prove the Earth is flat.

Two actors known for distinct dramatic roles are set to lead a new cinematic venture centered on an unconventional premise. Jack O’Connell and Odessa A’zion have been cast in Studiocanal’s upcoming feature, The End of the World as We Know It. The project marks the directorial debut for Ross White and Tom Berkeley, the filmmaking pair who previously secured an Academy Award for their short film An Irish Goodbye.
Casting and Creative Team
The narrative follows a pair of "star-crossed loners" who encounter each other during an epic journey aimed at proving that the Earth is flat. In a statement regarding the casting decisions, directors White and Berkeley expressed enthusiasm for the ensemble. They noted feeling "intensely lucky" to work with O’Connell and A’zion, citing support from teams at Working Title, Parkville, and Film4 alongside Studiocanal. The directors stated they could not wait to take audiences on this unique, cinematic journey.
A’zion brings recent credits including her role as Joey Del Marco in Grand Army and Riley McKendry in Hellraiser. Her filmography also includes appearances in Fam, Ghosts, Marty Supreme, and Until Dawn. O’Connell is recognized for portraying Remmick in Sinners and Sir Jimmy Crystal in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. His prior work spans Ink, Rogue Heroes, Unbroken, ’71, and Starred Up.
Plot Themes and Production Details
The film is described as an unlikely adventure exploring truth and love. According to the directors, the story was discovered in "the strangest of places," yet it resonates with a collective search for meaning, belonging, and love in an increasingly disparate world. No further plot specifics have been released beyond the central flat-Earth quest.
Berkeley and White will serve as both writers and directors for the production. Filming is scheduled to commence in Canada. Producers Olivier Kaempfer, Eric Fellner, and Tim Bevan are attached to the project, while executive producers include Amanda Drake, Joe Drake, Nathan Kahane, and others associated with the involved studios. Apart from the confirmed leads, no additional casting announcements have been made. The movie currently lacks a release date but is slated for theatrical distribution in the U.K., France, Germany, Poland, Benelux, Australia, and New Zealand.
