Director Peter Berg announced that the upcoming Call of Duty film will take place within the Modern Warfare universe, with a release planned for June 30, 2028.

During the Fanatics Fest event in New York City on July 18, director Peter Berg disclosed that the forthcoming Call of Duty movie will be based in the Modern Warfare universe.
Berg, who is 62 years old, is set to direct the film and is collaborating on the screenplay with Taylor Sheridan. The movie is slated for release on June 30, 2028, though casting and further details have yet to be revealed.
According to earlier statements, the film aims to excite the extensive global fan base by incorporating key elements beloved in the iconic video game series while also reaching new audiences.
This announcement precedes the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which is scheduled for October 23.
Since its debut in 2006, the Call of Duty franchise has attracted over 1 billion players worldwide and has generated revenues exceeding $35 billion.
