Barcelona Clinch La Liga Title with Clasico Victory
Barcelona secured their 29th La Liga title with a 2-0 win over Real Madrid in the Clasico on Sunday.
Barcelona officially claimed the La Liga championship for the 29th time in their history and the second consecutive season after a decisive 2-0 victory over visiting Real Madrid on Sunday. The match, part of the 35th round of the season, sealed the title with three games still to play.
An early goal from Marcus Rashford put Barcelona ahead just nine minutes in, following a free-kick from the edge of the penalty area. Ferran Torres doubled the lead in the 18th minute, finishing a clever back-heel assist from Dani Olmo.
Real Madrid thought they had pulled one back through Jude Bellingham in the 73rd minute, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Barcelona thus avenged their loss in the first Clasico of the season, which Real Madrid had won at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Title Race Decisive Margin
Under German coach Hansi Flick, Barcelona now sit on 91 points, 14 clear of second-placed Real Madrid, managed by Spanish coach Álvaro Arbeloa. The gap ensures the title is mathematically out of reach for their rivals.
Barcelona were without star player Lamine Yamal due to injury. Real Madrid also faced significant absences, including Kylian Mbappé, Federico Valverde, Arda Güler, Rodrygo, and Eder Militão.
