CAF has officially increased the runner-up prize for the Confederation Cup to $2 million, benefiting both Zamalek and USM Alger ahead of their final clash.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a significant increase in prize money for the runner-up of the African Confederation Cup, raising it to $2 million from the previous $1 million. The decision comes just before the final showdown between Egypt's Zamalek and Algeria's USM Alger.
The winner of the tournament will now receive $4 million, double the previous $2 million prize for the champion. The first leg of the final is scheduled for Saturday at the 5 July Stadium in Algiers, with the return leg set for May 16 at Cairo Stadium.
USM Alger is aiming for its second continental title, having previously won the competition in 2023 against Tanzania's Young Africans. Zamalek, meanwhile, is chasing its third Confederation Cup trophy, following victories in 2019 and 2022, both times against Morocco's RS Berkane.
Both teams reached the final after overcoming Moroccan opposition in the semi-finals. USM Alger defeated Olympic Safi, while Zamalek edged past Algeria's CS Belouizdad.
