Trump Criticizes Transgender Women Competing in Female Sports Competitions
Donald Trump reiterated his opposition to transgender women participating in women's sports, citing biological differences as an unfair advantage.
Former US President Donald Trump reiterated his opposition to transgender women competing in women's sports, arguing that biological differences provide men with a clear physical advantage over women.
Speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania, Trump described the requirement for female athletes to compete against individuals born male as unfair from his perspective.
He cited an example from weightlifting, explaining that some athletes who ranked low in men's competitions achieved better results after transitioning to compete in the women's category.
Adopting the pose of a weightlifter lifting an imaginary weight, Trump said, "Here is a transgender man. That’s the term. He was at the bottom of the men’s weightlifting list, but now he is a female weightlifter. Look at the weight, I think it was 210 pounds (about 95 kilograms). That’s a heavy weight for a woman, but not for a man who can lift it with one hand."
He continued, "He won a medal, and everyone said: what a great thing! Are we crazy? Men should not compete in women’s sports," reaffirming his stance from his election campaign and political decisions.
In 2025, Trump signed an executive order aimed at restricting transgender women's participation in female sports, a move that sparked widespread debate across the United States among supporters and opponents.
