Seven distinct smart-home products have been identified in certification records as part of a reported collaboration between Apple and LG. The lineup includes video doorbells, security cameras, a thermostat, sensors, and a smart lock, all carrying LG branding while leveraging Apple’s ecosystem integration. Mark Gurman described the arrangement, which positions the tech giants to deepen competition against established rivals like Amazon Ring and Google Nest.

The reported partnership structure

Under this unusual alliance, LG would manage hardware production and support, allowing Apple to expand its home accessory portfolio without manufacturing every device internally. This strategy enables Apple to offer a broader range of products while relying on LG for physical infrastructure. Neither company has publicly commented on the reported collaboration, leaving specific details regarding final availability unconfirmed by official sources.

Certified device specifications

Documentation lists seven specific items: the LG Video Doorbell Wired, LG Smart Deadbolt Lock, LG Smart Thermostat, LG Temperature Sensor, LG Indoor Cam Plug-In, LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In, and the LG Floodlight Cam. The naming conventions indicate that the doorbell requires wired power, whereas the indoor and outdoor cameras depend on nearby electrical outlets. These installation needs distinguish them from battery-operated alternatives currently available in the market.

Connectivity and future rollout

Several accessories are said to feature Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread, and Matter connectivity standards. The smart lock reportedly incorporates ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, potentially facilitating proximity-based unlocking mechanisms. While Matter support aims to simplify cross-platform integration, the exact feature set for each device remains unverified. These hardware components could complement Apple’s rumored Home Hub, also known as HomePad.

Reports suggest a new HomePod mini and an updated Apple TV may arrive on October 13. In contrast, the LG-branded accessories are expected to launch several months later. Certification records do not explicitly name Apple, maintaining ambiguity about the precise timeline for consumer access to these joint products.
