Apple's iPhone 18 Pro to Feature 12 New Upgrades Including AI and Satellite Connectivity
Apple is set to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro series with 12 key features, including a 2nm chip, satellite 5G connectivity, and camera and battery enhancements.

As the official launch of the iPhone 18 Pro series approaches in two months, leaks have revealed a dozen expected features Apple plans to introduce in its new smartphones. These include a more efficient display, a new 2-nanometer processor, support for 5G satellite connectivity, and upgrades to the camera and battery.
Apple is anticipated to announce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max during the first half of September, alongside its first foldable device named iPhone Ultra. These devices are expected to reach the market in the second half of the same month.
Technical Enhancements in iPhone 18 Pro
While maintaining the overall design of the iPhone 17 Pro series, the upcoming models are expected to feature several technical updates, including a smaller Dynamic Island achieved by relocating part of the Face ID sensors beneath the screen.
The introduction of new LTPO+ displays aims to enhance power consumption and extend battery life. The main camera will have a variable aperture lens with a 48-megapixel sensor, allowing users greater control over lighting and image depth.
The iPhone 18 Pro will be powered by the A20 Pro chip, manufactured for the first time using TSMC's 2-nanometer technology, promising improvements in performance and energy efficiency. Additionally, the new C2 modem, Apple’s third-generation modem, will handle communications.
Connectivity and Design Updates
Support for 5G satellite connectivity will enable internet access in areas lacking cellular or wireless networks. The new N2 chip will enhance Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread technology performance.
A new color option called "Dark Cherry" will join the existing silver, dark gray, and light blue finishes. The camera control button will be simplified by removing touch sensitivity and haptic feedback, relying solely on pressure sensing.
The rear Ceramic Shield layer will feature a redesigned look with a more uniform appearance around the MagSafe area. The iPhone 18 Pro Max will include a battery approximately 10% larger than its predecessor, resulting in a thicker device to accommodate the increased battery size.
Release Schedule and Market Strategy
Leaked information indicates that Apple will delay the launch of its more affordable models—the iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and the second generation of the iPhone Air—until March 2027.
These updates demonstrate Apple’s continued focus on enhancing device performance and battery longevity, while integrating new satellite-based connectivity features amid intensifying competition in the smartphone market.
