xAI has initiated a phased rollout of voice-based interaction for its Grok AI assistant, allowing users to engage in real-time spoken conversations instead of relying solely on text input. The feature is now becoming available incrementally across smartphones and desktop computers.

How Grok Voice Enables Natural Dialogue

The new capability is powered by Grok Voice, a proprietary technology that enables Grok to comprehend voice commands and generate spoken responses instantaneously. This architecture shifts user interaction toward a more conversational, natural exchange—eliminating the need to type each query manually.

Grok Voice Think Fast 2.0 Delivers Faster Responses

Grok Voice operates using the Grok Voice Think Fast 2.0 model, which xAI announced in July 2026. According to the company, this version delivers approximately 1.4 times greater speed than its predecessor, alongside improvements in speech-to-text accuracy.

Rollout Timeline Across Devices

Grok first became accessible on computers and iPhone devices in August. Its availability expanded to Android devices in early September. Voice functionality is currently being deployed gradually; as a result, not all users will see the feature simultaneously.

Developer Access via fal Platform

xAI has extended Grok Voice beyond the official Grok application. The company has made the technology available to developers through the fal platform, enabling them to build custom applications and voice agents characterized by rapid response times and low latency.
