Instagram has introduced a feature allowing users to add posts they’re tagged in directly to their main profile grid, enabling collaborative photos and shared moments to appear alongside self-posted content without re-sharing.

Instagram has launched a new functionality that lets users incorporate posts in which they are tagged directly into their primary profile grid. This change allows collaborative images, group posts, and memorable moments to appear organically on a user’s profile without requiring them to re-share the original content.
Previously, posts featuring a user’s tag appeared exclusively in the “Tagged” tab. The update expands visibility by also displaying those posts within the main profile grid — alongside content the user themselves has published.
Users can add a tagged post to their main profile grid through one of three methods: via the direct message notification received after being tagged; by selecting the three-dot menu on the post itself; or by long-pressing the post while inside the “Tagged” tab.
Once added, the post appears in the main grid in reverse chronological order by default. Users who have manually reordered their profile grid retain full control over where the newly added post is placed.
Removing a tagged post from the main grid does not delete the original post or remove the tag. The original remains accessible in the “Tagged” section and continues to appear on the original poster’s profile.
The feature grants users expanded control over the visual presentation of their profiles. It particularly benefits content creators collaborating with brands, photographers featured in group photo sessions, and everyday users wishing to highlight photos and memories posted by friends — all without uploading duplicate copies of the same content.
Prior to this update, users commonly re-shared tagged photos to make them visible on their own profiles. That practice led to content duplication and fragmented engagement across multiple versions of the same post. The new system displays the original post directly on the user’s profile while preserving its integrity — including the original caption, formatting, and attribution to the creator.
This development forms part of an ongoing series of Instagram updates aimed at increasing personalization options for profiles. In recent months, the platform introduced the ability to manually reorder posts within the main grid and to change audio tracks in already-published Reels — without affecting likes, comments, or shares.
The feature has begun rolling out globally and is expected to become available to all Instagram users within the coming weeks.
