Facebook, Instagram Outages Hit Over 17,000 US Users, DownDetector Reports

Social media platforms Facebook and Instagram—both owned by Meta—experienced widespread outages affecting thousands of users in the United States, according to real-time monitoring service DownDetector.

The platform reported over 17,000 incident reports linked to Facebook and more than 5,000 related to Instagram.

DownDetector aggregates these figures from voluntary user submissions rather than internal system diagnostics, meaning the actual number of affected users may differ from the reported totals.
