Oppo Introduces Magnetic Bubble Screen for Rear-Camera Selfies
Oppo has unveiled the Bubble, a magnetic rear display that enables smartphone users to preview selfies with the main camera, currently available in China for $73.

Oppo has released a compact magnetic display called Bubble that attaches to the back of certain smartphones, allowing users to take selfies using the rear camera. This accessory, priced at approximately $73, offers a solution similar to a feature integrated into the Xiaomi 17 Pro but as a standalone device.
The Bubble is a circular AMOLED touchscreen, measuring 7mm in thickness and weighing 27.5 grams, equipped with a 550mAh battery. It magnetically clips onto compatible phones and provides a live preview on the rear of the device, enabling subjects to look into the main camera lens for higher-quality selfies.
Besides its primary selfie function, the Bubble serves as a secondary display for showing wallpapers, photos, and short videos. It also supports a wireless remote shutter with a range of up to 10 meters, which facilitates group photos without needing to hand the phone to another person. Oppo additionally offers a case that transforms the Bubble into a keychain fob when not attached to a phone.
This accessory approach contrasts with Xiaomi’s method of embedding a secondary rear screen in every 17 Pro unit, which increases the base price regardless of user interest. Oppo’s model allows users to maintain a standard phone while opting to purchase the Bubble separately, an economic strategy highlighted by Digital Trends in their hands-on review.
Oppo officially confirms compatibility with the Reno 14, Reno 15, Reno 16, Find X8, Find X9, Find X9 Pro, and Find X9 Ultra models. Although the Bubble can physically attach to any Qi2-enabled phone, including the iPhone 17, Oppo states it performs best with its own devices. The accessory’s wireless live preview depends on a proprietary Miracast-style connection, limiting full functionality on unsupported phones.
According to Gadget Hacks, users of Pixel and Samsung Galaxy phones may encounter ecosystem limitations that mere physical attachment cannot resolve. Oppo launched the Bubble in China on May 25, 2026, priced at CNY 499 (approximately $73). There are no announced retail partners in the US or UK, and since Oppo does not sell through US carriers, availability in those markets would rely on grey-market imports or direct online sales, neither of which has been confirmed.
For the time being, the Bubble is a China-exclusive product, with potential expansion into Western markets to be observed later in the year.
