Berri: The Lebanese Army is the model that tests and is not tested

Issued by Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri on the occasion of Lebanese Army Day on the first of August, the following statement:

Eighty-one years and the Lebanese Army remains the model that tests and is not tested, examines and is not examined in unity, identity, belonging, sacrifice, and loyalty, in defense of Lebanon, the one united exemplary homeland that Lebanese aspire to, not the exemplary regions whose borders the Israeli occupier draws with fire, killing, and destruction.

The army is the army of Lebanon and the Lebanese; it is of them and for them and the focus of their hopes in protecting sovereignty, liberating the land and the people, and preserving stability and civil peace. To this comprehensive national institution on its holiday, leadership, officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, martyrs, and wounded, a salute of pride and appreciation. With you and through you we protect and bring about the resurrection of Lebanon and complete the liberation of its land."
