FIFA Confirms Iran's World Cup Camp Move to Mexico Despite US Match Venues
FIFA has officially approved Iran's training camp in Mexico for the 2026 World Cup, while the team will still play group stage matches in the United States.

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has finalized the arrangements for the training camps of all 48 national teams participating in the 2026 World Cup, the largest edition in the tournament’s history.
In an official statement, FIFA confirmed that Iran’s team base camp will be relocated to Mexico, even though the Iranian national team will play its three group stage matches in the United States. This distribution reflects the expanded organizational framework of the tournament.
The participating teams are distributed across the three host countries, with the United States hosting 39 teams, Mexico accommodating 7 teams, and Canada hosting 2 teams. FIFA has approved a broad network of cities and training centers to enhance the tournament’s sporting and economic impact.
FIFA emphasized that the team base camps constitute a central component of the World Cup experience, serving as the primary residence for teams during the competition period. These camps provide venues for accommodation, preparation, and daily training sessions, while also contributing to tourism and economic activity in the host cities.
