Two national teams have officially lost their chance to advance to the knockout stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, currently being held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, following the conclusion of the second round of group matches.

Haiti became the first team eliminated after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Brazil in their match early Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field. This game was part of the second round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.

This loss marked Haiti’s second consecutive defeat, having lost their opening match 1-0 to Scotland. As a result, Haiti occupies the last place in their group with zero points and has been eliminated based on FIFA's tiebreaker criteria used when two or more teams finish the group stage with the same number of points.

Brazil leads Group D with 4 points, ahead of Morocco on goal difference, while Scotland holds third place with 3 points.

Turkey became the second team to be eliminated early from the 2026 World Cup, following Haiti, after losing 1-0 to Paraguay in their second group match, also played early Saturday.

Turkey had started the tournament with a 2-0 loss to Australia. They will face the United States in the third round of the group stage in a match with no impact on qualification, as the U.S. has already secured advancement to the round of 32 by winning their first two matches.
