4.6 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Southeast Iran's Bardesir District

An earthquake registering 4.6 on the Richter scale struck Bardesir district in Kerman province in southeastern Iran, according to local authorities, with no casualties or material damage reported.

Gholam Reza Nejad Khaleghi, the general director of the Crisis Management Department in Kerman province, stated that assessment teams were dispatched to the earthquake site immediately after it occurred. He confirmed that field surveys did not record any damage.

The Iranian Seismological Center reported that the earthquake occurred at 03:46 local time at a depth of 10 kilometers. The epicenter was located in Bardesir district, approximately 62 kilometers from the city of Kerman.

Iran experiences occasional earthquakes of varying magnitudes due to its position on several active seismic faults.

The most recent similar event was a 4.6 magnitude earthquake near Tehran in May, which also did not result in significant damage.
