Brief Visit and Absent Meeting: Netanyahu Arrives in New York After Trump's Departure

There is no scheduled meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the upcoming visit agenda for Netanyahu to the United States, as the latest available schedules indicate that the two leaders will be in New York at different times during the United Nations General Assembly meetings.

According to the Jerusalem Post, citing a senior U.S. official, Netanyahu’s presence in New York will be "extremely limited"; the most recent travel dates available to the U.S. administration show that the Israeli prime minister will not arrive in the city until after Trump has left.

The official told the Jerusalem Post that the latest schedule he reviewed places Netanyahu’s arrival in New York after the departure of the U.S. president, noting that the administration does not typically discuss requests for meetings submitted to the White House, and therefore did not confirm whether Netanyahu or his team had formally requested a meeting with Trump.

Netanyahu is also expected to arrive in New York on Saturday morning, the day he is scheduled to deliver his speech before the UN General Assembly, and then depart the United States immediately after concluding his address, according to an Israeli official quoted by the Jerusalem Post.

The newspaper previously reported that Netanyahu’s visit itinerary might include a stop in Texas, but the latest arrangements suggest he may travel directly from Israel to New York, possibly not spending a night in the United States, with confirmation that the final visit schedule has not yet been finalized.

In contrast, Trump is set to arrive in New York on Monday and leave late Tuesday, making the overlap in their presence in the city minimal according to current schedules. The general debate of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly is scheduled to take place from September 22 to 28.
