The British Maritime Trade Operations announced receiving a report of a maritime incident occurring 105 nautical miles northeast of Aden, Yemen. The authority confirmed the targeted ship's crew remains unharmed, according to Reuters.

The maritime authority detailed that two small boats, carrying an unspecified number of armed individuals, approached a commercial ship to within four meters before opening fire.

In response, the commercial vessel deployed an onboard security team that returned fire, causing the small boats to retreat and later distance themselves beyond four nautical miles.

The authority affirmed the crew's safety and advised all vessels to navigate the area cautiously.

Details of Previous Incidents Near Yemen's Coast

Earlier, on Monday, the British Maritime Trade Operations reported a similar event where a small boat approached an oil tanker and fired upon it 111 nautical miles southeast of Aden. Authorities are investigating the incident, though further details have not been disclosed, as per Reuters.

Additionally, the authority previously reported that a small boat approached a container ship and fired shots 14 nautical miles south of Yemen's coast in an attempted boarding.

The maritime authority stated that investigations are ongoing and that vessels in the region have been instructed to exercise caution and report any suspicious activities to the authority.
