The UK Maritime Trade Operations announced that a bulk carrier was attacked by several small boats while sailing north.
The authority stated in a report today, Sunday, that the tanker was attacked approximately 11 nautical miles (20.4 kilometers) west of the Iranian Sirik port, east of the Strait of Hormuz.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations confirmed that all crew members are safe, and there were no reports of environmental damage "no environmental impact was recorded" as a result of the attack. The authority urged vessels passing through the area to "exercise extreme caution" and report any suspicious activity.
This attack, the first of its kind since April 22, comes at a time when Iranian officials have expressed their unwavering stance regarding the Strait.
Meanwhile, Tehran continues to implement its new policy.
In a parallel development, Ali Nikzad, Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, affirmed during a visit to a port on the strategic Larak Island that Tehran "will not back down from its position and will not restore the Strait of Hormuz to its pre-war state."
Nikzad reiterated the Iranian position that "any vessel not linked to the United States or Israel can pass after paying a fee."
