CENTCOM Destroys Five Iranian Oil Tankers in Strait of Hormuz

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed on Tuesday that it had destroyed five Iranian crude oil carriers in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a social media post on X, CENTCOM stated the strikes were conducted in response to two separate ballistic missile attacks launched by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) against a U.S. Navy warship within the previous 48 hours.

CENTCOM reported that the American vessel successfully evaded both Iranian missile attempts and continued its surveillance operations in regional territorial waters.

Visual documentation released

The command released video footage showing the targeting and destruction of the Iranian vessels.

CENTCOM also confirmed that no U.S. service members aboard the warship sustained injuries during the Iranian missile attacks or subsequent retaliatory operations.

Iranian media confirmation and IRGC warning

Earlier reports from Iranian state-affiliated media outlets had indicated that U.S. forces had struck multiple Iranian oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued an advisory to tanker crews operating out of Kuwaiti and Bahraini ports, instructing them to immediately evacuate their vessels.

Fox News reported that the U.S. military carried out its previously stated threat to strike Iranian oil tankers near Kharg Island and the city of Jask.
