China Accuses US of Double Standards Over Submarine Missile Test Notification
China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning accused Washington of double standards following US criticism over delayed notification of a Chinese submarine missile test.

China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning accused the United States of applying double standards in response to Washington's criticism regarding Beijing's delay in informing it about a submarine missile test.
These remarks were made by Mao Ning during a press conference after she was asked to comment on a statement from the US State Department. The US statement claimed that China notified Washington very late about the missile launch test and did not provide sufficient information.
In her response, Mao Ning emphasized that China released the relevant information in a timely manner and had informed the United States and other countries in advance. She highlighted this as evidence of the openness and transparency of the Chinese armed forces.
The spokesperson further pointed out that the United States is the only country in the world to have actually used nuclear weapons and possesses the largest and most advanced nuclear arsenal globally. She added that Washington conducts strategic missile launches from its nuclear submarines annually, while simultaneously issuing irresponsible statements and criticizing China's routine missile launch operations. Mao Ning described this behavior as a blatant example of double standards and dominance.
These statements coincided with an announcement from the Chinese Ministry of Defense that the People's Liberation Army Navy successfully conducted a test on June 6. The test involved launching a strategic missile equipped with a dummy warhead from a submarine in the waters of the Pacific Ocean.
