China Denies Reports of Xi Criticizing Japan's Remilitarization in Trump Meeting
China's Foreign Ministry refuted claims that President Xi Jinping sharply criticized Japan's Prime Minister over remilitarization during talks with US President Donald Trump.

China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied media reports alleging that President Xi Jinping harshly criticized Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi during his meeting with US President Donald Trump.
Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning stated that the reports claiming President Xi condemned Takaichi over Japan's remilitarization in the recent summit with Trump do not align with the information available to China and are merely rumors circulated by the media.
She added that China has released details regarding the meeting between the Chinese and American leaders and reaffirmed that Beijing's stance on Sino-Japanese relations remains clear and consistent.
Earlier, the Financial Times cited informed sources reporting that Xi Jinping raised his voice during negotiations with Trump, criticizing Japan's policy of strengthening its military capabilities. According to those sources, Trump defended Japan's position, justifying it by the threat posed by North Korea.
