Beijing confirms a Chinese-owned oil tanker was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, expressing grave concern over the incident.

A Chinese oil tanker carrying a Chinese crew was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, Beijing confirmed on Friday, voicing "grave concern" over the impact of the Middle East conflict on shipping. Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian, speaking at a regular press briefing, stated that Chinese nationals were aboard the vessel but that no reports of crew injuries had been received so far.
Chinese media reports late Thursday said a product tanker owned by a Chinese company was attacked near the Strait of Hormuz on Monday. The news outlet Caixin identified the vessel as a Chinese oil tanker, describing the incident as the first of its kind. The outlet added that a fire broke out on the tanker's deck, and that no official Chinese statement had been issued at the time.
