Chinese Teams Rescue 37 After Vietnamese Ship Sinks in South China Sea

On Sunday morning, specialized Chinese rescue teams successfully saved 37 individuals after a Vietnamese ship sank near the Yongshu reefs in the Nansha Islands, located in the South China Sea.

The local authorities in Sansha city confirmed that all rescued persons were Vietnamese citizens aboard the distressed vessel "Kheuy Nguyen 18," which had a total of 62 people on board.

The Sansha maritime search and rescue authorities reported that the "Kheuy Nguyen 18" is a Vietnam-registered ship measuring 69.9 meters in length and 10.8 meters in width, with a total tonnage of 999 tons. They added that search and rescue operations are still ongoing.

According to Hainan provincial authorities, as cited by central television, the cargo ship "Kheuy Nguyen 18," carrying 62 Vietnamese nationals, encountered an incident in waters near the Fairy Cross coral reef area.
