CNN quoted informed sources as saying that "Iran is expected to present a modified proposal to mediators in Pakistan" in the coming few days.
The sources stated, according to what the network reported, that the anticipated proposal comes through Pakistani mediation channels, without providing additional details about the content of the amendments or their precise timing.
Earlier, Tehran had presented an offer that drew clear American objection, after it attempted to turn the Strait of Hormuz into a bargaining chip through an offer linking its reopening to lifting the blockade and ending the war, while pushing the nuclear program file onto a delayed track that would give the Iranian regime additional room for maneuver.
The Trump administration dealt with this proposal as a direct test of freedom of navigation and Iran's ability to use the global economy as a pressure tool, so Washington linked any potential understanding to the nuclear program and ensuring the security of maritime passages simultaneously.
Washington had called for defending international freedom of navigation, given Iran's obstruction of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, which was met with widespread international condemnation and rejection.
Meanwhile, a group of UN member states rejected, in a joint statement yesterday Monday, Iran's illegal threat to freedom of navigation and the imposition of transit fees in the Strait of Hormuz.
Negotiation paths between Washington and Tehran became more complicated, with the latter's obstruction of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, an issue that Iran placed on the negotiation table, after the matter had previously been largely confined to the nuclear file and the missile program.
