JD Vance disclosed Donald Trump's perspective on trust in Iran talks during a CBS interview preview ahead of the full broadcast on June 14.

JD Vance recently disclosed Donald Trump's true perspective on trusting parties involved in the Iran negotiations. This insight came from a preview of a CBS interview featuring the Vice President, set to air fully on Sunday, June 14.
On Tuesday, June 9, CBS Evening News with Tony Doukopil released a preview clip of an upcoming interview with Vice President JD Vance. The full interview, conducted by Chief Election and Campaign Correspondent Robert Costa, will be broadcast on CBS Sunday Morning on June 14. The discussion centered on the ongoing peace negotiations with Iran and Donald Trump's negotiation approach.
JD Vance has been heading the US delegation in peace talks with Iran, although no agreements have been finalized. Recent reports suggested that Trump may have disrupted progress after Vance reportedly developed a proposal that Iran had accepted.
When asked by Costa if the Iranians were merely "stringing Trump along," Vance replied, "No, I don’t think so. Again, I think their system takes a long time to reach consensus." He then shared Trump's views on trust during such negotiations.
Vance recalled a question posed to him last week about whether he "trusts the Iranians." He conveyed Trump's response: "I don’t trust anybody; what I do trust is my own ability to negotiate. I trust our administration’s ability to negotiate, and I trust the enforcement provisions that we’re going to get in place."
This interview preview emerged amid rising tensions between the United States and Iran. On June 9, the US conducted new strikes on Iran following Trump's claim that Iran had shot down a US Army Apache helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz. Trump confirmed that both pilots were safe and unharmed but stated that the US "must, of necessity, respond."
CENTCOM reported that the soldiers were rescued within about two hours and remained in stable condition. A CENTCOM spokesperson informed CBS News that an unmanned surface drone carried out the rescue, marking the first drone-assisted water rescue. Iranian officials responded strongly, with Foreign Minister Araghchi warning that Iran’s armed forces "will leave no attack or threat unanswered."
