The Colombian government announced today, Tuesday, that it will withdraw from the The Hague Group as a member state and co-chair, citing the group's actions towards Israel, according to Reuters agency.

The Hague Group states that it seeks to uphold international law and international procedures, including at the International Criminal Court regarding Israel's actions.

Government spokesperson Miller Soto said in a video posted on the X platform: "Colombia has officially requested to withdraw from the The Hague Group, a group established to isolate and attack Israel, and we reject this approach."

On October 14, Colombia inaugurated its embassy in Jerusalem, joining a small circle of countries that have established their diplomatic representation to Israel in this city whose status as Israel's capital is not recognized by the international community.

The decision to move the embassy to Jerusalem came at the initiative of conservative Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella, an ally of US President Donald Trump who previously moved the United States embassy to Jerusalem in 2018 during his first presidential term.
