Crimea Governor Declares State of Emergency Following Ukrainian Attacks
The Russian-appointed governor of Crimea announced a state of emergency after Ukrainian drone strikes targeted the region's infrastructure.

The governor of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, appointed by Russia, declared a state of emergency in the peninsula on Friday in response to recent Ukrainian attacks.
According to a statement reported by Agence France-Presse, Aksyonov said the emergency measures were imposed to address economic issues in the region.
Sevastopol, the largest city in Russian-controlled Crimea, experienced a series of intense Ukrainian strikes as part of Kyiv's campaign to increase pressure on the Kremlin and push for peace negotiations.
Razvogaev, a local official, announced restrictions on electricity consumption across the city and urged residents to reduce the load on the power grid.
Meanwhile, Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine's drone forces, stated that Ukrainian troops targeted Sevastopol's main electricity distribution station seven times during the early hours of Wednesday.
Russia has controlled Crimea since its annexation in 2014, a move widely condemned by the international community following the Maidan protests that ousted the pro-Moscow Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych. Sevastopol serves as the historical base for the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
Since his election in 2019, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has declared his intention to regain control of Crimea, a goal that has gained prominence in Ukrainian discourse since the full-scale Russian invasion began in 2022.
