Egyptian Government Denies Plans to Issue 10,000 Pound Banknote
The Egyptian government clarified that there are no intentions to release a 10,000 pound banknote, confirming the 200 pound note remains the highest denomination in circulation.

The Egyptian Cabinet's Media Center denied any plans by the government to issue a 10,000 pound banknote, affirming that the highest denomination currently in circulation is the 200 pound note.
According to the Media Center, communication with the Central Bank of Egypt confirmed that no decisions have been made regarding the issuance of such a banknote. The bank also stated that there are no ongoing plans or studies concerning the introduction of new denominations, whether paper or polymer, beyond those already circulating within the Egyptian market.
The Central Bank emphasized that the 200 pound note is presently the largest paper currency denomination in Egypt. The range of banknotes in circulation includes 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 pound notes.
In addition, polymer banknotes are issued in 10 and 20 pound denominations. All these banknotes carry full legal tender status and are redeemable at their full face value for goods and services.
The Central Bank urged citizens not to be misled by false information aimed at stirring public opinion and stressed the importance of obtaining information from official sources.
