Explosion in Abadan and Strait of Hormuz Closure Amid Rising Tensions

Official media reported hearing an explosion in Abadan, located in Khuzestan province in southwestern Iran.

At the same time, a source within the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Navy stated that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed to navigation as long as the United States continues what was described as "hostile actions" against Iran.

According to the Fars News Agency, the source confirmed that all transit through the Strait of Hormuz is currently halted. The source emphasized that any attempt to cross the strait, particularly by vessels deemed "violators," will be met with a response from Iranian armed forces.

Hostilities between the United States and Iran have intensified recently, coinciding with reports that Israel is expected to receive additional American aerial refueling aircraft, suggesting a possible renewed involvement in the conflict.

An Israeli official stated that the United States "has decided to adjust the status of its forces in the region and to reinforce the existing fleet of aerial refueling planes stationed in Israel."

On Friday, Axios cited three US and Israeli officials reporting that the Trump administration informed Israel it would send dozens of additional refueling aircraft ahead of a potential expansion of military operations against Iran.
