Financial Times: Gulf-Iranian meeting in Salalah over Hormuz Strait
Top diplomats from Gulf Cooperation Council nations and Iran are set to meet in Salalah, Oman, to discuss a temporary agreement on navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. The talks, initiated by Oman, mark the first high-level gathering since U.S.-Israel attacks on Iran began in February.
According to the Financial Times, today Friday, foreign ministers from Gulf states plan to meet their Iranian counterparts in an effort led by Oman and Iran to secure approval for a temporary agreement governing navigation through the Hormuz Strait.
The newspaper cited two informed sources saying the meeting is scheduled for Monday in the Omani coastal city of Salalah.
This meeting—initiated by Oman—is the first of its kind between senior diplomats from the six GCC countries and a high-ranking Iranian official since the United States and Israel launched war on the Islamic Republic in February.
One source said final details have not yet been settled, but several countries have confirmed participation, and the meeting is expected to proceed.
