Haakon VIII has sworn the constitutional oath before the Storting, Norway’s national parliament, formally assuming the monarchy following the death of his father, King Harald V.
Harald V passed away on Friday at the age of 89, as reported by Agence France-Presse.

During the swearing-in, Haakon VIII declared: “I swear to govern the Kingdom of Norway in accordance with its Constitution and laws, and I ask Almighty and All-Knowing God to assist me therein.”
