Iranian news agency Fars reported on Tuesday that advanced electronic warfare units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Aerospace Force forced two American "MQM-170" reconnaissance drones to land in the airspace south of Iran's Qeshm Island, which was subjected to US bombing last night.

US forces targeted radar systems and missile launch platforms on Iran's Qeshm Island as a defensive measure against surface-to-air missile threats, according to sources for NewsNation.

A US official clarified that these strikes were a "defensive action" in response to the Iranian use of surface-to-air missiles against US assets.

A Reuters report stated that the strikes were limited in scope and conducted in strict secrecy to avoid giving the impression of resuming military operations against Iran.

Meanwhile, Iranian officials reported that communications between Iran and the United States - aimed at ending the eight-month-long war - remain ongoing, days after the Iranian side held talks with Qatari mediators without achieving any breakthrough.
