Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei dismissed claims circulating in some media outlets about the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, describing them as unfounded on Friday.

Baqaei explained that the Islamic Republic's armed forces, in accordance with the June 18, 2026 memorandum of understanding on ending hostilities, have implemented necessary measures to secure safe passage for commercial vessels through the Strait. He affirmed that maritime navigation in the strait remains operational, accessible, and ongoing.

The Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PGSA) provided detailed instructions for ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz in a notice posted on its official page on the platform "X." The notice emphasized that to avoid delays when entering or exiting the strait, vessels must submit a request at least 48 hours prior to arrival in the strait area, including complete information.

The PGSA further stated that ship requests will be reviewed via their official online portal and highlighted that for a period of 60 days, Iranian authorities will not charge any fees. Instead, they will cover costs related to security, environmental protection, and insurance services.

Addressing security concerns, the PGSA confirmed the presence of risks during vessel transit through the Strait of Hormuz. It stressed the importance of coordinating the route and timing for each ship's passage, adding that the shipowner bears responsibility for any failure to comply with these conditions.
