On Monday, the Iranian news agency Tasnim reported that Tehran has suspended its message exchanges with the United States.

The agency explained that Iran's decision came in response to Israeli attacks targeting Lebanon's Hezbollah and Hamas in Gaza. Despite declared ceasefires, Israeli strikes in Lebanon and Gaza have persisted over recent weeks, primarily concentrated in southern Lebanon.

According to Iranian sources cited by Tasnim, "No talks will take place until Iran's demands for a halt to Israeli operations in Lebanon and Gaza are met."

So far, neither the United States nor Pakistan, which is mediating the current negotiations, has issued a statement regarding this development.

Earlier on the same day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed the military to attack targets in the southern suburb of Beirut, expanding military operations against Iran's key ally. The southern suburb is known as a Hezbollah stronghold.

A statement from Netanyahu's office said: "Following repeated violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon by the terrorist Hezbollah group and attacks on our cities and citizens, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yisrael Katz have ordered the Israel Defense Forces to strike targets in the Beirut suburb area."

Since the ceasefire in mid-April, clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah have continued. The Lebanese group has resorted to using inexpensive and easily assembled drones that are difficult for air defenses to intercept, resulting in the deaths of several Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon.

The conflict in Lebanon represents the largest fallout from the war involving Iran, having displaced over 1.2 million Lebanese due to Israeli air raids and evacuation orders since March 2, when Hezbollah began launching rockets and drones toward Israel in support of its Iranian ally.

The Lebanese government reports that Israeli incursions have so far caused more than 3,370 deaths. Israel states that 24 soldiers and four civilians have been killed during the same period. Tens of thousands of Israelis living in the north have also been displaced due to Hezbollah’s rockets and drones.

Negotiations between the parties have been struggling but continue despite intermittent exchanges of strikes. Amid escalating military actions, both the United States and Iran have revealed that talks remain ongoing in faltering efforts to end the conflict.

The current discussions focus on a memorandum of understanding aimed at ceasing hostilities and establishing a foundation for further talks on key unresolved issues. Recent amendments proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump following a meeting with his advisers on Friday have extended the ongoing negotiations by another week.

On Monday, Trump posted on the Truth Social platform, after the U.S. military confirmed recent strikes: "Iran strongly desires to reach an agreement, and it will be a good deal for the United States and its allies."

The specific amendments requested by Trump were not immediately clear, but officials indicated he insisted on using firmer language concerning Iran’s nuclear commitments and its pledge to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
