Iranian Foreign Minister Admits US-Israeli Security Breach on February 28

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed the occurrence of a security breach that enabled the US and Israeli strikes on February 28, which led to the deaths of several Iranian political and military leaders. He indicated that this breach might still be ongoing.

Araghchi discussed the possibility of security failures prior to the conflict his country engaged in with the United States and Israel, suggesting that important government and military meetings may have been compromised.

In an interview published with excerpts in Iranian media on Sunday, the foreign minister recounted his experience during the first day of the war on February 28.

He stated that several key political and military decision-making bodies were holding meetings simultaneously with the timing of the airstrikes targeting Tehran.

On that first day of the war, a number of senior Iranian political and military officials were killed, including the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Araghchi explained that on the morning of that day, he met with the director of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s office to brief him on the latest developments in negotiations with the United States.

Referring to Israel and the United States, Araghchi said, "The critical point, from my perspective, is that they were aware of these meetings."

He added, "This possibly indicates the existence of a security breach that was in place and may still be in place."

He continued by stating that the issue was not limited to breaches alone.

Araghchi clarified, "Sometimes it may involve influencing the direction of decision-making processes," adding, "I do not wish to elaborate further on that publicly."
