Axios reported that Iran's stance on the results of the US midterm elections could push President Donald Trump to resume military operations against Iran.

The site quoted informed sources as saying that "those rejoicing" in Tehran over the election results might increase the likelihood of a Trump decision to return to war.

This comes after statements by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei, who said, "The attack on the Islamic Republic does not achieve victory but leads to failure."
Axios cited diplomats involved in mediation efforts, Trump advisors, and Middle East experts, stating that "Iranian schadenfreude" could increase the probability that the American president decides to resume the war.
The midterm elections were held on November 3, where Americans elected all 435 members of the House of Representatives and 35 members of the Senate.
According to CNN projections, Democrats are likely to gain a majority in the House. Bloomberg Agency forecasts indicate that the party may also control the Senate, securing at least 51 seats.
