Iran's "Revolutionary Guards" threatened early Thursday to expand the ongoing battle with the United States, stressing that the US army will not be able to continue the current equation of battle and make the war attritional.
Brigadier General Mohsen Mohbi, spokesman for the "Revolutionary Guards," said in a statement reported by the official "IRNA" news agency that "current Iranian operations focus on destroying American offensive infrastructure in the region, and after that, subsequent steps will begin."
These statements come amid continued military escalation between Washington and Tehran, and an exchange of military strikes, with indications of an expansion of operations in the region.
Local sources reported hearing explosions in the south of "Sistan and Baluchestan" province in southeastern Iran, in the cities of "Chabahar," "Konarak," and "Rask."
Unofficial news reported that Colonel Javad Shabrnaki, deputy commander of the "Revolutionary Guards" in the city of "Rask," was injured in the attacks launched by US forces early Thursday on positions belonging to the Guard in the city.
Concurrently, the agency quoted a local official in "Khuzestan" province as saying that 4 points in the suburbs of the city of "Ahvaz," the provincial capital, were subjected to attacks by the US army on Wednesday evening.
Waliullah Hayati, deputy governor of Khuzestan for security and police affairs, said the attacks on the city's suburbs did not result in any human casualties.
The agency confirmed that a wheat storage silo in the city of "Howeyzeh" and a site in the city of "Dasht-e Azadegan" were subjected to attacks with American shells on Wednesday.
