Iraqi Judiciary Seizes Over $12 Million and Weapons in Adnan Al-Jumaili Corruption Case
The Iraqi judiciary confiscated more than $12 million in cash, numerous properties, and weapons during investigations into former Oil Ministry Deputy Adnan Al-Jumaili.

The Iraqi judiciary announced on Tuesday the seizure of cash exceeding $12 million, along with dozens of properties and weapons, amid ongoing investigations involving Adnan Al-Jumaili, the former Deputy Minister of Oil for Liquidation Affairs.
According to a statement from the Supreme Judicial Council, preliminary investigations conducted by the investigating judge of the Central Court for Combating Corruption Crimes resulted in the confiscation of approximately $10 million in US dollars and 3 billion Iraqi dinars, equivalent to more than $2 million, bringing the total amount of seized funds to over $12 million.
The statement also noted that the investigations uncovered large quantities of light and medium weapons, confirming that inquiries are ongoing to identify all individuals and entities connected to the case.
Local media outlets and platforms circulated images from Al-Jumaili’s residence displaying a diverse arsenal of weapons. These included assault rifles such as the AK-47, Yugoslavian variants of the M-92 Zastava, Russian AKS-74U models, as well as American rifles of the M4 and M16 types, alongside German and Italian firearms, and MP5K submachine guns.
The photographs further revealed the presence of medium and heavy machine guns, advanced sniper rifles, a collection of pistols, and modified weapons.

An official security source announced on May 29 the arrest of Al-Jumaili, who previously served as Deputy Minister of Oil for Liquidation Affairs and General Manager of the North Refineries Company, on allegations related to financial and administrative corruption.
Earlier, on May 3, 2026, Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi issued a decision dismissing Al-Jumaili from his position as head of the North Refineries Company and appointed Qusay Khalaf as his replacement.
These developments are part of a broad campaign launched by the Al-Zaidi government aimed at combating corruption, reviewing government contracts, and investigating cases suspected of public fund misappropriation. The government describes this phase as a new stage targeting the prosecution of senior officials involved in corruption and the recovery of public money.
