Israel Halts Strikes on Iran but Continues Attacks in Lebanon
Israel has ceased its military strikes against Iran following a direct request from US President Donald Trump but will maintain operations targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon.

A senior Israeli official announced on Monday that Israel has decided to stop its airstrikes against Iran. This decision came after a direct request from US President Donald Trump during a phone call with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The official told Channel 12 that "this round of escalation with Iran has ended," while emphasizing that Israel will persist with its attacks in Lebanon against Hezbollah targets.
The official clarified that the cessation of hostilities with Tehran does not extend to the northern front, noting that the move was in response to American pressure aimed at calming the situation and allowing ongoing negotiations to proceed.
On the same day, the Iranian armed forces announced a halt to their attacks on Israel following a mutual exchange of strikes, marking the first such exchanges since the ceasefire agreement in the Middle East conflict.
The so-called "Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters," Iran’s central operations command, issued a statement declaring that Tehran had carried out a "painful response" to Israeli air raids earlier on Monday and subsequently announced the "cessation of the armed forces' operation."
However, the military leadership warned that "if aggression and hostile actions continue, including in southern Lebanon, stronger measures than before will be taken."
Iran had launched attacks against Israel on Sunday evening in retaliation for Israeli strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut, according to Iranian sources. Israel responded by targeting "military objectives" and a petrochemical complex in Iran, as reported by its military.
President Donald Trump stated on Monday that both Israel and Iran desire an "immediate ceasefire," cautioning that negotiations in the Middle East could be hindered by "ignorance or foolishness."
