Israeli Chief of Staff Orders Reduction in Gaza Military Operations

Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has instructed a reduction in military operations across the Gaza Strip, sources within the IDF Southern Command confirmed.

The Peace Council’s 15-point proposal

This directive follows the Peace Council’s public statement calling on Israel to halt combat operations in Gaza. The Israeli Defense Forces stated the move aligns with decisions taken by the political leadership, as reported by the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation.

According to a security source, IDF forces operating in Gaza retain authority to neutralize any immediate threat to their safety. However, targeted killings of Hamas operatives and individuals involved in the October 7 attack now require prior approval from the IDF General Staff.

IDF red lines for ceasefire implementation

The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation reported that the IDF will apply three red lines to the Peace Council’s recently announced 15-point agreement aimed at ending the war in Gaza. Senior IDF officials are scheduled to present these conditions tomorrow at a meeting held at Zamir’s headquarters.

The first condition expected to be raised is full operational freedom to eliminate emerging threats emanating from Gaza — effectively permitting continued combat against Hamas personnel.

A second demand concerns weapons oversight in Gaza. Under the Peace Council’s agreement, such oversight would be internal to Palestine — delegated to a technocratic government intended to administer Gaza in place of Hamas. The IDF opposes this arrangement and insists on external supervision, asserting that “authority should not be handed over to the other side.”

A third core objection centers on withdrawal timelines. The IDF firmly rejects any partial or phased withdrawal until Hamas is fully disarmed — a position directly at odds with the Peace Council’s provision for gradual withdrawal. All IDF demands will subsequently be submitted to the political level for final decision-making.
