JD Vance cites uranium enrichment and stockpile concerns as key reasons for the delay in finalizing the US-Iran agreement.

JD Vance, the US Vice President, revealed the reasons behind the delay in reaching an agreement between the United States and Iran, emphasizing that certain nuclear-related issues are obstructing progress.
Speaking to reporters, Vance identified the highly enriched uranium stockpile and the enrichment process itself as the primary factors causing the postponement of the deal with Iran.
He stated, "It is difficult to determine whether President Donald Trump will sign the memorandum of understanding with Iran and the exact timing, as we are still negotiating some linguistic points."
Vance added, "We have made significant progress in negotiations with Iran, and there is ongoing discussion regarding some clauses in the draft agreement. It is very clear that the Iranians want an agreement and want to open the Strait of Hormuz, and we want them to open the strait."
He continued, "There are some issues related to the nuclear file, specifically the highly enriched uranium stockpile and the enrichment matter itself. So, as you know, we are continuously negotiating with them."
Vance further commented, "We believe they are negotiating, at least so far, in good faith, and we are making some progress. We hope to continue making progress. The President will be in a position to approve the agreement, but clearly, this matter remains unresolved."
JD Vance also identified the "toughest question" in the path toward the agreement with Iran.
