Macron: French Government to Announce Measures to Ease Protests
French President Emmanuel Macron announced that Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu will reveal strong measures to calm nationwide protests, while warning of potential unrest next weekend.

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday that Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu would announce "strong measures" to ease protests across the country, but also noted that the upcoming weekend could bring a risk of further disturbances.
Speaking to journalists in Marseille on Monday, he stated: "I have also asked the government to respond to the legitimate demands at the heart of this social movement," according to AFP.
Lecornu is scheduled to hold a press conference on Monday following his meeting with unions and groups representing high school students.
Macron reiterated what Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez had said earlier on Monday, when he predicted more protests would take place on Saturday.
France is preparing for a new wave of protests and social strikes extending from late October to early December, as unions and the "Yellow Vests" movement remain determined to continue pressuring the government over the cost of living, wages, and declining public services.
