New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani stated he will ask President Donald Trump to remove Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents from the city following a shooting in the Bronx.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced his intention to request that US President Donald Trump withdraw Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel from the metropolis. This declaration follows a shooting incident linked to the federal agency that occurred the previous day.
The New York Police Department reported that a man sustained gunshot wounds around 4:00 p.m. in the Marble Hill neighborhood of the Bronx. The injury happened during an altercation with federal officers. Both Mayor Mamdani and the US Department of Homeland Security subsequently confirmed that the discharge of weapons took place during an operation conducted by ICE, the body tasked with executing President Trump’s stringent immigration crackdown.
Mamdani revealed that a five-year-old child was inside the vehicle when the shooting occurred. He characterized the situation as extremely dangerous and unacceptable. The mayor specified that during their conversation, he would demand the cessation of all ICE immigration enforcement operations within the city. He asserted that he would not remain passive while agency members intimidate local communities.
