In a video posted on the platform "X," Mamdani stated that his administration reviewed all legal options to determine whether New York City could enforce an arrest warrant issued by the court if Benjamin Netanyahu were to come to the city.

He added that it is clear the city does not have independent legal authority to enforce such a warrant. However, he noted that the federal government holds this authority and called on it to join the International Criminal Court and execute the warrant.

This video was released just days after Mamdani told The New York Times that he is working with his administration's legal team on how to carry out the arrest of Netanyahu on charges of alleged war crimes.

On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump commented on the controversy via his platform "Truth Social," stating that Netanyahu "will not be arrested, in any way or form."
