Melania Trump joined representatives from Russia and Ukraine at a White House event celebrating a six-day ceasefire in Oleshky, which she helped broker.

Melania Trump, wife of US President Donald Trump, joined representatives from Russia and Ukraine on Thursday for an event held at the White House, honoring a six-day ceasefire in the Russian-controlled city of Oleshky that she helped broker.
The event came as US officials intensified their efforts to reach an agreement ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
The White House said in a statement cited by Reuters: "This achievement represents an unprecedented diplomatic initiative by the First Lady of the United States."
Restoring Peace
Earlier, the Kremlin announced it hoped Trump would continue his peace efforts despite the Republican Party's defeat in the US congressional elections.
The Kremlin added that work is underway to prepare for a meeting between Putin, Trump, and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, scheduled for November 18-19 in Shenzhen, China.
